Doesn’t fall bring thoughts of Thanksgiving?

A time for a table full of delicious food surrounded by family and laughter; adults and children alike! All year round everyone is so busy in their daily routines and weekends spent on chores that when Thanksgiving weekend comes around it’s nice to get the family together and forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

And so the plans start to come together. Andrew took the lead in setting the date and time for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner by text. It went as follows…

“Oct. 9th, 2022 we will celebrate thanksgiving, your mom’s birthday, and possibly Dylan’s birthday.” Mom was turning 93 this October and my grandson Dylan has a birthday around the same time and Thanksgiving is all wrapped up in one. What a celebration it will be I thought to myself!

Andrew continued, “I invited Nil (my sister)and family too. You make sure you come. If anyone has an issue, they can stay home but you have no choice.” He signed it OX

“I will be there for sure!” I text back and then quickly added, “I have told my son and his girlfriend that they are coming too. It’s going to be a grand Thanksgiving dinner this year with the whole family together.”

Andrew quickly texts back, “No to your son Shane. Fid has issues with him. Your daughter has to check her calendar, your sister has not responded now I am and will not be cooking. I am canceling. I want no part of this.”

Ignoring what was happening I text back, “I am baking up some Apple Fritters for the 1st time ever & will make them for the get-together!”

“It’s canceled Yaz, already done, canceled for sure. No thanksgiving.” Andrew boasted.

So within one hour, we planned a delicious fun-filled family thanksgiving and then had the entire thanksgiving festivities canceled. Oh boy, I thought to myself only in this family could such events unfold…I am sorry but I had to laugh because otherwise, this family would drive you bonkers!
